Vernal Equinox

Sunday was the first day of spring!

It feels like spring in here.

Happy equinox! Even though I live in sunny and beautiful southern California I get hit with the winter blues a bit. I'm always so excited for longer days, more produce variety, and the return of one of my favorite flowers - ranunculus. Last Sunday I headed to the wonderful Hollywood farmers market and grabbed some flowers, olives, chard, and cheese curds.

A mess of ranunculus is a vase made by a potter friend.

Waking up and seeing these flowers every morning has been such a treat. Buying beautiful flowers for my home is one of my favorite acts of self care.

I made this tiny bouquet to sit on my workbench.

I can never resist the rainbow chard. Magenta stems?! So beautiful. I scrambled some up with eggs and potatoes when i got home from the market. I think the rest is destined for lentil soup.

The chard is just about as pretty as the flowers!

I love seasonal changes. It's always a reminder to me to regroup and reassess, and reconsider my goals. I think my short term goals for now are to keep working on honing my photography, add some new work to the shop, and to keep buying myself flowers. :)
